What's a page title — and why should you care?
A page title is the headline Google shows in blue when your site appears in results. It's also the first thing a search engine reads to work out what the page is about. Get it wrong and people scroll past you even when you rank.
Where you actually see it
Search for your business — the clickable blue line in the results is someone's page title. Open a browser tab: the text at the top is the page title. Most people see your title long before they see your site.
Why it decides whether you get the click
A title that says 'Home' tells a searcher nothing. One that says 'Counselling in Dublin — [Your Name]' tells them exactly what they'd get. Google may even rewrite a weak title, and it usually isn't in your favour.
The mistakes that cost you
Missing titles, the same title on every page, titles so long Google cuts them off, or titles that say nothing at all. A crawl lists every page with a title problem — with a corrected version written out for you.
A five-minute fix, mostly
Titles live in your site's settings (or your CMS's SEO field) and usually take a minute each to correct. The hard part is knowing which pages are wrong. That's what an audit hands you on a list.
